# \[NEW] Option Set Editor v3.5
## Overview
Meet Option Set Editor v3.5, live since ***August 6th***.
It's a complete rebuild, crafted to be faster, cleaner and far more intuitive. But here's the good news: everything you've already built is perfectly safe. No migration, no re-saving. Just a better editor waiting for you.
## What's New?
We reshaped the editor around the way you actually work. Nothing was removed, but a few settings have moved to smarter spots. This before-and-after guide is your shortcut back to muscle memory. If you know the old editor and can't find something right away, start here.
## What Hasn't Changed
Here's what you don't have to worry about:
* **Your existing option sets are untouched.** Every option, value, price, and rule you've already built works exactly as it did.
* **Your live storefront is unaffected.** Customers see the same options they saw yesterday.
Almost every feature you know is still here. What changed is where things live, not what they do.
## The New Layout
### 1. Tabs across the top
Your option set is now laid out as tabs, so you move through it in order instead of scrolling to find things:
* **Add options** — build your options, values, prices, and rules
* **Select products** — choose which products the option set applies to

**Select products** is the one with big change here. It used to sit further down the page, below your options. It's now a tab of its own, so choosing products is a deliberate step rather than something easy to scroll past.

### 2. Option set name and status
Your option set's name now sits in the **centre of the top bar**, with a button next to it to enable or disable the whole set. The General Settings icon is right next to it.

### 3. Customer restrictions
Customer restrictions now stays in the General settings.
* Open General settings in the :gear: icon next to the Option set status, at the top bar.

### 4. Adding an option
When you add a new option, the option types are now sorted into three groups:
* **Selection** — options where the customer picks from choices you've set up
* **Inputs** — options where the customer types, uploads, or enters something
* **Layout & content** — elements that structure and explain your form
Same option types as before, just grouped so you can find the right one at a glance.

### 5. Use template
The **Add template** button is now called **Use template**.

## Basic Settings
### 1. Required option has its own spot
**Before:** the required checkbox sat directly under the option name.
**Now:** it has its own row, usually near the bottom of Basic settings — grouped with the other rules about how the option behaves rather than mixed in with its name.

### 2. Default value moved out of the table
This applies to selection options — Dropdown, Radio Button, Checkbox, Color Swatch, Image Swatch, Button, and so on.
**Before:** you set the default by ticking a checkbox column inside the option value table.
**Now:** the default value sits **directly below the option value table**. Your value table stays narrower and easier to read, and it's clearer which value customers will see selected first.

### 3. One button for extra details
**Before:** each option value had a row of separate buttons — Add description & tooltip, Add discount, Add cross-product link, Add option details link.
**Now:** all of these live behind a single **Edit extra details** button in the option value table. Click it and everything for that value opens in one place.
📝 **Note:**
* Nothing was removed. Descriptions, tooltips, discounts, cross-product links, and option detail links all still work exactly as before — they're just no longer competing for space in the table.

## Advanced Settings
Advanced settings kept all of its features. The changes here are almost entirely about position: settings have been regrouped so related ones sit together.

One thing did change shape:
**Save option template** is now a **button** sticky in the footer rather than a checkbox. Instead of ticking a box and saving the option set to create a template, you click the button when you're ready.

## Product Personalizer & Live Preview
### 1. Select background is now Set view
**Before:** background setup opened in a popup called **Select background**.
**Now:** it's called **Set view**, and it's a tab of its own at the top of the editor. The tab appears when Product Personalizer is turned on.
Everything inside it works the same way it always did — same background configuration, same settings, just more room to work in now that it isn't squeezed into a popup.

### 2. Preview image upload
This is the change most likely to catch you out, so it's worth a careful look.
**Before:** the preview image was a second column in the option value table, inside Basic settings.
**Now:** it has its own dedicated upload column in the **Product Personalizer** section of the option. Open your option, switch to **Product Personalizer**, and you'll find the preview image for each value there — alongside its position settings, so you can set the image and place it in the same spot.
📝 **Note:**
* Preview images you've already uploaded are still attached to their option values. Nothing was lost and nothing needs re-uploading — just look in the new place to edit them.
